We had our first ever Burns Supper at the hotel on Saturday 24th January, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Melton Mowbray.

Fifty Rotary Club members were joined by about 20 hotel residents for a formal dinner, with a traditional Burns night menu and joints of matured English beef carved at each table.  The Haggis was “piped in” and addressed by a Piper in full regalia before being served.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Mr and Mrs Linford, who were celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary at the event.

Our head housekeeper Iris Burns retired at the end of December after 29 years at Sysonby. She joined the hotel in 1979 when it was a small  guest house and has seen it develop into a 3 star hotel. She has also seen me move from school, to University, to accountancy and back to the hotel!

The team at the hotel has increased over the years, on leaving her fellow staff presented her with flowers and jewellery. The family team has grown with the addition of James and Zoe and we presented Iris with a watercolour.

Thanks to all others who entered the draw. The feedback was very much appreciated and passed on.  We were delighted with the response and the many positive comments.

We look forward to seeing many of the “2 for 1″ vouchers in the coming weeks - don’t forget they can be used for either lunch or evening meals.
