Yesterday was the East Midlands CiCLE Classic race, which starts in Oakham and finishes in Melton after 150km.  Gavin was marshalling with the Rotary Club and I took James and Zoë down to see the finish.  It was a lovely afternoon and the scouts took advantage of the road closure for their St George’s Day parade through Melton.  Below is a short video of the riders rounding the last cornet into Sherrard St just before the finish.

Today was the day of the British Pie Awards held in St Marys Church. We were co sponsors of the event with some of the judges and organisers staying with us last night. Judges Tamasin Day- Lewis and Xanthe Claye are pictured at the hotel with myself and organiser Caroline Kenyon.

The number of pies in the different categories numbered over 500, some pictured below.

The inagural event at Melton proved successful and we hope it will go ahead next year.

Easter Sunday brought a full restaurant for Sunday Lunch. All guests joined in with the Easter egg raffle. 80 varying sized eggs were purchased ranging from creme eggs to larger Lindt bunnies to large Thorntons eggs. Guests then selected a ticket from Zoë the Easter bunny and collected the related egg from James the other Easter bunny. Luckily very few were left over for the Easter bunnnies to eat!

The winner of our Easter draw was Mrs D Sheppee from Letchworth Garden City.  Mrs Sheppee was unable to stay over the Easter weekend but donated the prize to her in-laws, who enjoyed a two night stay at the hotel.
