The observation hive at the hotel swarmed and Gavin has given the swarm to James as his first “very own” bees.  James is seen in the picture below transferring them to a new hive - all we need to do now is get him some gloves that fit!

We welcomed the Harrow Natural History Society over this weekend. The group rambled all around Melton, visited parks and were seen catching moths into the night in the field below the hotel.
As usual we had the Melton Show on the bank holiday Monday, unfortunately the traditional bank holiday weather struck, but did not seem to dampen the enthusiasm.

The Leicestershire County Show proved a success at the weekend. The family and I visited on Sunday and despite not too good weather had a good time. The hotel benefited from having some guests who were competing in some of the riding events.

Twiglet met a kindred spirit in the NFU tent!
