This Sunday Melton hosts the country fair again having missed 2 years. The event has falcons, ferrets, livestock, food, drink, arts, crafts - so there should be something for everyone. I think it will be well worth a visit. There is a link on our events page.

The bees have been very active in this good weather there is plenty of honey coming in. Gavin and James extracted some last weekend so this will be jarred up shortly and will be on sale very soon.
Gavin has been collecting swarms from various places. This evening a lady rang up saying there was one in the entrance to her field,she did add she had driven over it in the landrover (poor bees), he is off to collect it tomorrow.
The bees have also paid a visit to James’s school in a special travelling observation hive that Gavin built. The children were fascinated and asked lots of questions and taste tested the honey!

Fathers Day proved popular again, never quite as manically busy as mothers day. This year all fathers in the room were given a ticket for a draw for a bottle of malt whisky. The bottle this year was won by Mr Peters he was presented with the prize by Zoe !!

Last week Gavin visited our local primary school The Grove and helped them with their version of ‘Dragons Den’. The children (years 1-6) presented their ideas to a panel of 6 ‘dragons’ Gavin included with the aim of obtaining up to £200 to fund their projects. The hotel is now sponsoring a picnic table, money towards drum lessons and supplying a sundial for the sensory garden. Gavin said the morning was enjoyable and it was great to see such young children presenting in front of quite a large audience.

Stapleford Steam Fair is on this weekend, this features the miniature railway but also plenty of other attractions and trade stands.  James & Zoe will want to go, they love the railway, the demonstations and the cake stand. Definitely worth a trip out there if visiting Melton.
