Last weekend was busy with the  ‘Higgins Group’  and the rare breeds show. The group have been coming for many years, it is always great to see them again.

The regulars visited for the rare breeds show. We went down to the show on the Saturday and took some video to give a flavour of the show.

Gavin, James and the bees have been appearing in the local press recently. It started with an email sent to a BBC webcam site asking if they could put our bee cam on it. BBC Leicester then contacted Gavin and he did a live interview on Radio Leicester. This was followed by an article in the Leicester Mercury and then the Melton Times. The latest was an interview on the local radio station ‘The Eye’. The web cam is proving very popular worldwide.

September is always a busy month at the hotel, last weekend saw Burley Horse Trials as well as the wedding. Next weekend 11th and 12th Melton Market hosts a traditional rare breed animal show. The show and sale sees a wide range of rare breed sheep, goats and cows. We have visitors from countrywide arriving to show and sell their stock.

We also welcome this week the ‘Higgins  Group’, friends who have been meeting up here since 1997, even one couple from New Zealand.

A note for the diary is the East Midlands Food and Drink Festival, held at Brooksby the 1st weekend in October, more of that later.

Matthew and Sarah Hill, 5th September 2009

Congratulations to Sarah and Matthew Hill who got married last weekend and held their reception at the hotel. The Bride’s family are local and  have visited the hotel on many occasions for social events and we were delighted when they chose us to host the reception. The rain stayed away, lots of photos were taken in the garden and a late night was had by all!

The end of August brings the end of the Sysonby Summer Sleepover Offer, this was excellent value fo guests and therefore proved to be popular. Another offer is coming in october keep visiting the web site.

The bank holiday weekend was busy in the hotel with lots of events in the area. We took the opportunity of visiting Belvoir Castle for their family fun weekend.  We had a great time  - see the review and more photos in the next newsletter.
