Melton hosted the second National British Pie Awards on 19th May. We were one of the sponsors and provided accommodation for some of the judges including chefs Rosemary Schrager and Tamasin Day Lewis.

I was ‘honoured’ to be asked to be one of the judges for the 725 anticipated entrants. I was on the hot savoury pie which had 266 entrants, my judging partner was Simon Majumdar, a food writer who also writes for the Guardian. He was filming the competition. You can watch the video here http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/video/2010/jun/23/melton-mowbray-british-pie-awards
A great day was had, can’t face a pie for a while !
